Job summary

Hard Rock Digital is hiring a Senior Database Administrator to own production reliability for CockroachDB and PostgreSQL across multi-region environments. You will diagnose contention, latency, and retries, while developing tooling to reduce toil and accelerate incident resolution.

You will read execution plans, understand optimizer behavior, and collaborate with engineers to implement safe migrations, capacity planning, and robust backup strategies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years operating production relational databases as a DBA or similar.
• Deep production experience with PostgreSQL or CockroachDB.
• Understanding of MVCC, cost-based optimization, and query planning.

Responsibilities

• Operate and evolve multi-region CockroachDB and PostgreSQL clusters across production, staging, and development.
• Investigate contention, retries, and cross-region latency in transaction paths behind bets and payouts.
• Trace slow queries to execution plans and optimizer behavior, and identify root causes in schema or code paths.
• Plan capacity, upgrades, and safe rollout patterns to minimize customer impact.
• Build automation tools for monitoring, backups, and incident response.
