Job summary

Independent Software in Maryland seeks a Database Engineer (DBE) Level 3 to design, implement, and manage complex database systems supporting mission‑critical environments across the full system lifecycle. The role requires DoD 8570.01‑M IAT II, TS/SCI with Polygraph, and extensive experience with SQL, data modeling, and cloud-based database technologies.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is required.
Ten (10) years of experience as a Database Engineer (DBE) in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
DoD 8570.01‑M compliance with Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II is required.
Active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph is required.
Experience with SQL-based relational databases and data modeling.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, implement, and maintain relational and/or object‑oriented database systems.
Translate data requirements into usable database solutions and optimize queries.
Ensure database solutions are scalable, secure, and align with system architecture.
Collaborate with system engineers, developers and stakeholders to meet mission needs.
Implement database solutions using cloud-based methodologies and technologies and support testing and validation.
