Independent Software is seeking a Database Engineer (DBE), Level 3, to design, implement, and manage complex database systems supporting critical missions in the United States at Maryland operations. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is required.
• Ten years of experience as a Database Engineer in similar scope programs.
• Experience supporting database solutions across the full system lifecycle.
• DoD 8570.01-M compliance with IAT Level II is required.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain relational and/or object-oriented database systems.
• Develop database parser software and loading mechanisms.
• Analyze requirements to design effective database structures.
• Create and optimize queries, scripts, and macros for data manipulation and reporting.
• Translate data requirements into usable database solutions and datasets.
• Support data flow analysis, storage, and retrieval processes.
• Evaluate improvements for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Develop and maintain database schemas aligned with architecture.
• Perform trade-off analyses on data volumes and loads.
• Implement database solutions using cloud-based methodologies.
• Utilize ODBC and other integration methods for interoperability.
• Assist with optimization, tuning, and performance monitoring.
• Support system testing, validation, and acceptance activities.
• Ensure compliance with security requirements and data governance.
• Collaborate with system engineers, developers, and stakeholders.
