Job summary

University of Miami is seeking a full-time Database Administrator for the Central IT environment in Coral Gables. The role focuses on maintaining database performance, integrity and security, and provides leadership to database design teams and related IT groups.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL, and can develop strategies, standards and backup/DR plans while collaborating with vendors and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of database administration experience in Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL.
• Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
• Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, manage, troubleshoot, and tune database systems.
• Develop and assist with task-level project plans detailing required tasks.
• Develop, test, and implement system changes and upgrades.
• Develop, test, and implement backup, restore and disaster recovery processes.
• Document technical designs with diagrams, schemas and component documentation.
