Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line in Kentucky is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead the database team, ensuring availability, performance, security, and disaster recovery across production and non-production environments.

You will drive 24x7 operations, mentor junior DBAs, implement HA/DR, tune queries, manage backups, and collaborate with IT and development teams using Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL across cloud and on‑premises environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 7 years in database administration, design, and development.
• 5 years in tuning, performance, and scalability projects.
• 2 years of experience with cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and tactical direction for the database team and manage mission-critical databases.
• Ensure availability, reliability, and performance through monitoring and tuning.
• Implement backup/recovery solutions and Disaster Recovery processes.
• Maintain high availability with replication technologies and security best practices.
• Mentor junior DBAs and assist developers with database tuning and access optimization.
• Participate in on-call rotation and drive tool evaluations.
