Job summary

Hilltop Institute at UMBC seeks a Senior Data Visualization Specialist to join the Technology Innovation team. You will develop and enhance data visualizations using Tableau and other tools, work with Medicaid/MMIS and Medicare data, and support analysts in delivering insightful dashboards for Maryland health programs.

The role is hybrid, with part-time telecommuting available; salary is posted at $85,571 with substantial vacation. Background check required; open until filled.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience, or Master’s with knowledge of required areas.
• Experience performing SQL queries and data visualizations with Tableau or similar tools.
• Experience with Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS).
• Experience with SSMS database promotions.
• Experience working with Medicare total cost of care data.
• Experience evaluating encounter data quality from MCOs per MDH.
• Familiarity with Salesforce or similar marketing/communications tools.

Responsibilities

• Program and code visualization tools to advance Hilltop's data visualizations capabilities.
• Troubleshoot program malfunctions and perform root cause analysis.
• Update and maintain programs and databases for storage, retrieval, and visualization of data.
• Support programming manager, analysts, and programmers.
• Test software and visualization programs for accuracy.
• Document programming instructions and processes.
• Assist staff in defining technical issues with software and databases.
• Create dashboards and visuals using Hilltop data for state health reports.
• Perform basic SQL queries and SSMS promotions in collaboration with Hilltop resources.
• Analyze software/database tools and advise on upgrades and expansions.
• Perform file transfers and quality control.
• Program and customize Tableau and other platforms and review others’ work.
• Provide MCAT technical support as needed.
