Job summary

Private Company, LLP is seeking a Senior Data Analyst / Technical Business Analyst to bridge business stakeholders, Product leadership, and Engineering within a Software Engineering team. You will translate complex data and business needs into clear technical requirements for data and software development, and work closely with engineers throughout the SDLC.

The role emphasizes hands-on SQL, thorough documentation, and ensuring requirements are complete, testable, and actionable.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in technical business analysis or related roles.
• Strong SQL skills including queries, joins, filtering, and data validation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document technical requirements for data and software development initiatives.
• Translate business requirements into detailed specifications for Software and Data Engineers.
• Develop functional and technical requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, data requirements and mappings.
• Define data mappings, field-level requirements, transformation rules, validation criteria, and system behaviors.
• Use SQL queries to investigate data, validate requirements, analyze issues, and support development.
• Work with stakeholders to clarify ambiguous requirements and identify gaps before development begins.
• Maintain documentation as requirements evolve through the lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Data Engineers, QA, Product, and other technical resources.
• Investigate defects to determine expected vs actual behavior and assist root-cause analysis.
• Partner with Project Owner and Delivery Lead to ensure work is well-defined and on track.
