Job summary

Nordstrom seeks a Sr. Engineering Manager for the Data Streaming Platform in Seattle. You will lead a distributed team responsible for real-time data pipelines built on Kafka, Temporal, and Airflow, driving operational excellence and scalable, secure streaming infrastructure.

You will recruit, mentor, and guide engineers, define delivery processes, and partner with product and business teams to align technical work with Nordstrom’s strategic goals.

Qualifications

• A BA/BS in Computer Science or closely related degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering industry experience, or similar.
• 5+ years of managing a team.
• Experience with cloud-based, event-driven architecture and distributed systems.
• Proven track record leading large cross-functional software projects.
• Strong customer relationship skills and ability to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead a distributed software engineering team to deliver scalable streaming infrastructure.
• Own end-to-end delivery of cross-functional initiatives, including product definition and roadmap.
• Coach and mentor engineers; recruit and hire talent; define growth plans.
• Partner with Product, Program, and Business teams to set OKRs and success metrics.
• Drive architecture discussions and DevOps practices across the stack.
