Nordstrom, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Engineering Manager for the Data Streaming Platform in Seattle, hybrid. You will lead a distributed team responsible for real-time pipelines built on Kafka, Temporal, and Airflow, driving architectural excellence and delivery of strategic data initiatives.

You will partner with leadership to set goals, recruit top talent, and ensure scalable, secure streaming infrastructure supporting business objectives in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of managing a team.
• Cloud-based, event-driven architecture with distributed systems and streaming data pipelines.
• Experience with Kafka, Temporal, and Airflow; Java or Python.
• Proven track record leading large cross-functional software projects.
• Excellent stakeholder management and customer-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a distributed software engineering team.
• Define processes, measurements, and OKRs to align with business goals.
• Own architecture decisions and drive delivery of streaming infrastructure.
• Partner with product/program teams to balance long-term vision with near-term goals.
