Job summary

Reddit is seeking a very senior data science thought leader to shape measurement, modeling, and experimentation strategy across the consumer ecosystem. You will partner with Product, Engineering, Research, and Community to turn ambiguous problems into clear scientific questions and durable analytic systems, guiding decisions at scale.

The role emphasizes modeling users, content, and communities, and delivering long-term value while maintaining strong communication with senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in at least one relevant area with breadth to work across domains.
• Ability to model and optimize systems involving users, content, communities, and feedback loops.
• Frame ambiguous questions and develop rigorous paths from evidence to action.
• Strong judgment across model design, validation, and production tradeoffs.
• Experience with modern ML methods for behavioral/content data, including representation learning and sequential/contextual models.

Responsibilities

• Set the scientific direction for high-impact Consumer problems across discovery, relevance, personalization, user growth, retention, content, and communities.
• Build durable understanding of users and their needs to drive lasting value.
• Develop models representing users, content, communities, and their relationships for scalable systems.
• Measure ecosystem health and align long-term value with short-term metrics.
• Lead learning agendas and steer experimentation to distinguish durable improvements from noise.
• Create state-of-the-art measurement systems for heterogeneous user cohorts and content types.
• Translate complex findings into product and business decisions.
• Mentor scientists and shape data science org health.
