Vantor is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead data-driven initiatives in a mission-driven environment. The role requires independence, strong analytical communication, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for government stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in data science, computer science, engineering, statistics, GIS, or related discipline; degree may be substituted with 2 years of experience.
• Proficient in Python, SQL, and tools/libraries for data analysis, machine learning, and automation.

Responsibilities

• Automate and optimize data extraction, cleaning, processing, and analysis tasks using scripting languages and ETL pipelines.
• Process and analyze large-scale datasets using big data frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, or cloud-native equivalents).
• Independently conduct end-to-end data science/engineering workflows from hypothesis to actionable insights.
• Explore combining graph technologies, ML, and LLMs to create new analytics capabilities.
• Document methodologies and present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Design, fine-tune, and implement LLMs into workflows to support knowledge management systems.
• Mentor junior data scientists and partner with engineering to operationalize models in production.
