Job summary

General Mills seeks a Senior Data Scientist to design, prototype, and build advanced analytics engines. You will apply machine learning, data mining, and information retrieval to support decision making and partner with business stakeholders.

You will develop generative AI workflows, evaluate new tech, and ensure solutions translate into measurable business value while collaborating with product owners and other data scientists.

Qualifications

• Strong statistical reasoning and problem solving for stakeholder questions.
• Proficient in Python, SQL, and data visualization tools.
• Experience with ML basics and data warehousing concepts.
• Familiarity with embeddings, LLMs, agents, and RAG concepts.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with teams and partners.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement AI solutions for semi-structured data across classification, extraction and summarization.
• Develop AI workflows (Agentic, RAG) with efficient ingestion, chunking, and vector indexing.
• Evaluate new technologies and balance effort vs. impact for business value.
• Iterate with new tech, especially around generative AI and prompt tuning.
• Monitor model performance and incorporate stakeholder feedback into improvements.
• Translate business objectives into measurable data science outcomes.
