Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics seeks a Senior Data Scientist to apply advanced analytics across the clinical development continuum, driving analytics innovation and experimentation to deliver data-driven insights for complex R&D problems using ML and visual analytics.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, develop prototypes and ML methods, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor junior team members while leveraging cloud platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, analytics or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 3–5 years analytics experience in clinical research with leadership/analytics competencies.
  • Proficient in R, Python, SQL and data mining techniques.
  • Experience with ML and advanced analytics techniques.

Job description

Purpose

Senior Data Scientist role enabling application of advanced analytics across the clinical development continuum, driving analytics innovation and experimentation to deliver data-driven insights for complex R&D business problems using Machine Learning and Visual Analytics.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams as an analytics consultant; identify issues affecting timelines/quality and develop options and solutions.
  • Establish design principles/standards so analytical work products are consistent across projects and optimize user experience.
  • Develop prototypes, test methods, and algorithms; leverage emerging statistical methods, ML, and AI to build innovative analytical solutions.
  • Enable data-driven insights to support the clinical development continuum, including precision medicine.
  • Ensure adherence to federal/local regulations, GCPs, ICH Guidelines, AbbVie SOPs, and functional quality standards; stay current on evolving clinical development regulations/guidelines.
  • Identify business needs and support creation of standard KPIs, reports, and statistical analyses.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to strategize how analytics evaluate clinical trial progress and emerging risks; apply ML to validate assumptions and predict future behavior.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, analytics, bioinformatics, data science or equivalent; Master’s preferred.
  • 3–5 years analytics-related experience in clinical research with leadership/analytics competencies.
  • Advanced proficiency in R, Python, SQL (or other statistical packages); intermediate knowledge of statistical and data mining techniques.
  • Expert proficiency with visualization tools (Spotfire, Tableau, Microstrategy or equivalent).
  • Proven expertise with ML and advanced analytics techniques.
  • Strong communication; can explain technical/analytical concepts in lay terms.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving/analytical skills; successful execution in fast-paced environments and managing multiple priorities.
  • Cloud computing experience (AWS, Azure, etc.) preferred.
