Kemper Corporation seeks a skilled Data Scientist for its Auto Data Science team to design, develop, implement, and monitor predictive models that drive pricing segmentation, product development, and profitable growth.

The role emphasizes Python and SQL, statistical modeling, and ML, with collaboration across data scientists, engineers, and business partners. Hybrid work is available, with remote options for non-local candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or another STEM field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a STEM master/PhD with 6+ years in analytics or insurance.
• At least 4 years of firsthand experience with statistical modeling and AI/ML platforms.
• Proven ability to independently develop and deliver statistical or machine-learning solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, validate, and implement statistical and ML solutions for business problems.
• Own analytical workstreams from problem definition to delivery and monitoring.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and business partners for scalable solutions.
• Create reusable, well-documented analytical workflows using data science and cloud tech.
• Manage priorities, deliverables, and communicate progress and results to stakeholders.
• Participate in model and code reviews and suggest enhancements.
• Provide technical guidance and contribute to data science best practices.
