Nordstrom in Seattle, WA is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to advance personalization, recommendations, search, and browse relevance across our digital shopping experience. You will combine ML expertise with experimentation to improve how we match customers with products and experiences, evolving our data science to reusable personalization capabilities.

You will mentor scientists, design offline and online experiments, and apply embeddings, transformers, and GenAI where value is demonstrated,

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on data science or ML experience.
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field; advanced degree preferred.
• Deep experience with recommendation, ranking, personalization, search, or IR.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve recommendation, ranking, relevance, and personalization approaches.
• Build representations of customer intent and shopping context.
• Evaluate modern ML approaches using open-source resources and models.
• Design offline evaluation frameworks predicting online outcomes.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to define problems, outcomes, and metrics.
• Design and analyze online experiments to measure impact.
• Mentor scientists and raise technical practices.
