Job summary

Hyatt Hotels Corporation is seeking a Lead Data Scientist for Search, Personalization, and Agents to design, build, and optimize AI solutions across the organization. This role is individual contributor, emphasizing productionizing NLP/LLMs, recommender systems, and real‑time inference.

You will drive evaluation, governance, and measurable impact, partnering with ML/DS teams and product owners to deliver end‑to‑end AI products with high business value.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required; Ph.D. preferred.
• 6+ years in ML roles focusing on NLP/NLU, RL, or LLMs with leadership.
• Experience fine‑tuning and deploying LLMs to production.
• AWS cloud services expertise (SageMaker, ECS/EKS, Step Functions, Lambda, Glue).
• Strong Python, SQL, PySpark, and containerization (Docker).
• Proven data pipelines and ML systems for real‑time and batch.
• Deep understanding of responsible AI, CI/CD, Agile, and lifecycle mgmt.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with ML observability and governance tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and productionize generative AI for search and recommendation.
• Lead large language model powered applications and retrieval augmented generation.
• Build evaluation frameworks including bias, safety, and business impact.
• Translate business problems into data science solutions with metrics.
• Serve as hands‑on tech lead for high‑impact AI initiatives.
• Guide solution design, experimentation, and trade‑offs.
• Work with ML engineering and data engineering to deploy real‑time pipelines.
• Influence roadmaps and sequencing of data science initiatives.
• Mentor data scientists through code reviews and best practices.
• Collaborate to productionize models using AWS‑native tools and MLOps.
• Ensure scalable ML system design with observability and lifecycle mgmt.
