Job summary

University of Michigan in Ann Arbor is seeking a Senior Data Scientist in multiomics and population cohorts. You will build proteomics and multi-omic analysis pipelines, deploy AI model inferences at scale, and apply causal and genetic inference methods across large biobank datasets.

The role focuses on infrastructure and workflow development to enable population-scale discovery, collaborating with a leading cardiovascular research team.

Qualifications

• Master's or doctoral degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics, systems biology, or a related field.
• Experience analyzing large-scale proteomic datasets from high-throughput platforms (Olink or SomaScan).
• Proficiency in R and/or Python for statistical analysis and pipeline development.
• Experience with multi-omic data integration across at least two - proteomics, metabolomics, genomics, transcriptomics.
• Familiarity with high-dimensional biological data methods (dimensionality reduction, regularized regression, survival analysis).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prepare and present written and code-based analyses (Python or R).
• Strong scientific writing skills; contribute to manuscripts and grant applications.

Responsibilities

• Build, implement, and maintain proteomics and multi-omic analysis pipelines across datasets.
• Deploy AI models to biobank datasets.
• Build and maintain cross-cohort data harmonization tools.
• Perform causal and genetic inference analyses to identify disease mechanisms.
• Evaluate pipeline and signature performance; prepare analytical reports.
• Contribute to manuscripts, grant applications, and presentations.
• Coordinate data sharing and computational workflows with partners.
• Other duties as assigned.
