Job summary

Manulife Financial is seeking a Senior Data Scientist – GenAI to join the LTC FWA Advanced Analytics team in Boston. Lead design and deployment of ML/AI solutions, blending traditional modeling with Generative AI, prompt engineering, and RAG to protect policyholders and improve program integrity.

Collaborate with data and ML engineers to deliver production‑ready solutions; communicate findings to diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of hands-on industry experience in developing probabilistic models, analytics, and machine learning algorithms, including real-world experience applying analytics models with a focus on ML, generative AI, real-time engineering, and RAG applications.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and experience with ML libraries/frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, scikit-learn, Hugging Face, SQL).

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development of fraud detection and risk analytics models, including probabilistic models and anomaly detection.
• Perform advanced modeling and AI analysis on large datasets to identify emerging fraud patterns and root causes.
• Develop, fine-tune, and deploy Generative AI models (GPT and others) with cloud-based solutions for scalability and security.
• Build and optimize modular RAG systems and evaluate their performance.
• Apply LLMs to parse complex documents and extract structured information from diverse layouts.
• Stay up-to-date with Generative AI, prompt engineering, and cloud technologies to enhance data science capabilities.
• Collaborate with data and ML engineers to integrate solutions into existing systems.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical partners.
• Review work of other Data Scientists and participate in model/code reviews.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align business requirements with data science objectives.
