Job summary

Lab37 Robotics is seeking a staff-level engineer to own simulation direction for digital twins of robotic food production systems. You will model Bowl Builder, validate against real data, and guide decisions on hardware and software integration in our Pittsburgh-based team.

You will work closely with hardware and robotics engineers, set modeling standards, and turn complex systems into decision-ready tools that shape our product roadmap and kitchen performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related quantitative field; advanced degree a plus.
• 3+ years of experience in simulation, operations research, or data science.
• Hands-on discrete-event simulation with Python or similar tools.
• Experience driving design or operational decisions with models.
• Strong programming skills and ability to build simulation tooling.

Responsibilities

• Build discrete-event simulation models for Bowl Builder and robots, including timing and throughput.
• Characterize stochastic inputs from operating data and derive input distributions.
• Extend models toward a full kitchen digital twin spanning multi-station flow and labor.
• Evaluate build vs. buy options for platforms like AnyLogic, Simio, or in-house.
• Validate models against telemetry data and document uncertainty assumptions.
