• PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields and a minimum of 2 years of work experience with a focus on Artificial Intelligence OR a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a focus on Artificial Intelligence
• Demonstrated ability to write Python code
• Familiarity with GenAI packages including models from OpenAI, Google, Meta, etc. and ML frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.
• Experience in one or more of: training domain-specific LLMs, development of time-series or multi-modal foundation models, building knowledge graphs with LLMs, or integrating physics in scientific ML models

As a Lead Scientist, you will lead and/or execute on projects to design, develop, and apply innovative AI technologies, including machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, and foundation models, to tackle complex challenges in the energy sector. Your work will span the entire research spectrum, from fundamental theoretical and empirical investigations to prototyping and solution development. You will have the opportunity to define and work on diverse projects, including power generation, renewable energy, electric grids, robotics, and manufacturing, in collaboration with GE Vernova's business units and a broad network of Researchers across disciplines and domains. Additionally, you will contribute to cutting‑edge research programs with external partners in academia and government, driving the advancement of AI research at GE Vernova and pushing the boundaries of human scientific understanding globally.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in one or more of the following areas: (a) Training domain‑specific large language models (LLM), (b) Development of time‑series or multi‑modal foundation models, (c) Building and leveraging knowledge graphs with LLMs for reasoning and memory, (d) Integrating physics in scientific machine learning models

• Experience contributing to open‑source codebases and/or a significant portfolio of public work (e.g., on GitHub)

• For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $98,400.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
