Job summary

PayPal in Chicago is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join the Global Collections Strategy team. You will build data-driven collections tools and models, with a primary focus on Venmo BNPL, while supporting BNPL, Wallet, Credit Card, and Merchant Lending initiatives.

You will partner with Credit Strategy, Fraud, Risk, and Operations to balance performance, efficiency, and risk, using SQL, Python, AI, and advanced analytics to turn complex data into actionable insights and scalable solutions,

Qualifications

• 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree with at least six years of relevant professional experience, or a master’s degree with at least five years of relevant experience.
• Strong data science and analytical skills, with the ability to structure and execute complex analyses and build business cases that evaluate benefits, costs, risks, and trade-offs.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python, with hands-on experience working with large and complex datasets.
