Job summary

BioMarin is seeking a senior Data Scientist in the TOPS group to advance end-to-end product lifecycle by delivering data/AI solutions across Development, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain. You will own the Integrated Technical Data Strategy, applying analytics and AI to complex regulated datasets from multiple systems.

Role requires 7+ years in data science within biotech or related industries, strong SQL/Python, and experience with Databricks, Power BI, and GenAI pipelines.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Data Science, CS, Statistics, or related field.
• 7+ years delivering Data/AI solutions in regulated industry.
• Advanced SQL and Python for wrangling, modeling, automation.
• Experience building web apps with Dash/Flask/Streamlit; HTML/CSS/TS a plus.
• Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire).

Responsibilities

• Identify AI opportunities across Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain; translate problems into measurable use cases.
• Maintain TOPS Data Science Portfolio; plan and deploy solutions.
• Lead projects end-to-end with stakeholders; prepare business cases and docs.
• Define roadmaps and success metrics for Integrated Technical Data Strategy.
• Acquire and prepare multi-source technical data (MES, LIMS, QMS, ELN, SAP).
• Engineer domain-aware features and reusable data assets for analytics.
• Build and validate ML/AI models for process monitoring, anomaly detection, yield optimization.
• Develop GenAI solutions (RAG, semantic search, Q&A) using enterprise platforms.
• Operationalize models with MLOps; monitor drift and data quality.
• Collaborate with IT/Engineering to ensure scalable AI services.
• Drive data visualization and dashboards with clear storytelling.
• Champion data integrity and documentation per TOPS quality standards.
• Educate partners via demos, playbooks, and training.
• Quantify value realization and manage AI initiative backlog.
• Promote build-first evaluations for internal platforms.
