Job summary

Newton Research in Needham, MA is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to build production-level models and run experiments that drive media planning and measurement insights.

You will partner with engineering to embed your judicious analysis into Newton's agents, design rigorous experiments, and present results to stakeholders. A PhD or Master’s in a quantitative field and 5+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a quantitative field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in data science or applied statistics.
• Deep knowledge of statistical modeling, causal inference and machine learning with good judgment on which to apply.
• Ability to evaluate models, causal experiments, or AI-generated analyses and identify what they measure and where they fail.
• Proficiency in Python and data science libraries (pandas, scikit-learn), writing production-ready code.
• Strong SQL and experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift).
• Ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience in media, marketing, advertising, or related industries.

Responsibilities

• Build production-level models and algorithms for media planning, audience, measurement and yield problems.
• Design and interpret experiments, deciding what results support.
• Own problems end-to-end from scoping to defending the answer to customers.
• Work with engineering to encode judgment into Newton's agents.
• Build evals and benchmarks to ensure analyses are correct, not just plausible.
