Description & Requirements

Elder Research Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of MANTECH international Corporation seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Data Scientist. The Data Scientist will lead the design and implementation of advanced statistical and AI/ML solutions to extract actionable insights, assess model performance, and apply semantic analysis techniques that strengthen product safety decision-making. This role emphasizes innovation, efficiency, and interpretability within modern cloud data environments, while supporting strategic acceleration toward an AI-powered product safety Sentinel model that uses analytics to reduce time to intervention and protect more consumers from a broader range of hazards, faster.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Insight Extraction & Semantic Analysis:
    • Leverage semantic vibe coding efficiencies to uncover patterns and thematic insights from structured and unstructured data, and translate complex results into clear, actionable narratives through data storytelling and visualization.
  • Design, develop, and maintain AI techniques (e.g., product similarity) and predictive models (supervised and unsupervised) for anomaly detection, classification, regression, and pattern recognition, while rigorously evaluating performance using precision, recall, F1-score, AUC, and related metrics to ensure reliability and fairness.
  • Apply an innovative mindset to explore emerging technologies, creative approaches, and novel methods for solving complex problems efficiently; leverage modern tools and frameworks (GitHub Copilot, automated pipelines, CI/CD) and optimize workflows for scalable cloud deployment (Azure).
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Statistical and AI/ML Modeling Expertise:
    • 5+ years designing and developing statistical and AI/ML models, including regression, classification, NLP, and other predictive analytics approaches, using modern tools and best practices.
  • Technical Skills:
    • 3+ years hands-on Python experience (Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow), 3+ years in cloud environments (Azure; certifications a plus), and 2+ years with SQL for data querying and manipulation.
    • Advanced proficiency in dashboard and visualization tools (Power BI or equivalent) and integrating semantic coding techniques into ML workflows.
  • Strong oral and written communication for data storytelling, with experience in Git-based version control and collaborative Agile team development, contributing to iterative delivery, shared problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s, Ph.D., or equivalent professional experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
Clearance Requirements:
  • Current Public Trust Desired.
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance prior to starting this position.
