Job summary

Instacart is seeking a Senior Risk & Compliance Engineer to build automated signal ingestion pipelines, develop probabilistic risk models, and deliver quantified risk insights for leadership. This remote role blends security, engineering, and data science to drive real impact.

You will design real-time data architectures, translate complex risk outputs into actionable business decisions, and shape how risk is reported to the board while supporting the company’s Flex First approach.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in data engineering with production-level Python and SQL.
• 3 years building and deploying probabilistic models (e.g., Bayesian) in production.
• Experience building data pipelines ingesting real-time or near-real-time data.
• Experience data modeling for classification, normalization, and risk or anomaly detection signals.
• Experience developing metrics that inform security and business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Build automated signal ingestion pipelines that pull real-time data from security tooling and score findings into actionable risk intelligence.
• Develop probabilistic risk models expressing security exposure as probability distributions for leadership and board reporting.
• Identify systemic choke points across the attack surface and prioritize high-impact remediation.
• Build dashboards and data-driven insights translating model outputs for security, engineering, and executives.
• Support risk quantification efforts that connect model outputs to investment decisions and reporting.
