Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Data Privacy Engineer to optimize data use while ensuring compliance with business policies and legal requirements. The role focuses on protecting data assets and reducing risk across enterprise information resources.

You will collaborate with teams on complex privacy initiatives, manage data governance practices, and mentor junior staff. Strong SQL and data modeling experience are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/IS or related field with 5 years of work experience in data privacy, protection, or IT.
• Extensive experience writing in SQL.
• Experience with data modeling and Erwin.
• Experience with NoSQL, SQL Server, DB2, Google Big Query.
• Experience with software tools such as Solix, OneTrust, Immuta, and Manta.
• CIPT, CIPP, CIPM, CISSP, CISA, CRISC, FAIR certification.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal teams on complex projects to ensure data retention or system requirements, user-facing privacy controls, new or existing software, and big data solutions enable data-driven decisions while protecting data assets.
• Review privacy events and threats to improve privacy compliance and develop new tools and processes.
• Maintain, manage, and prioritize hardware, software, systems and product backlog while identifying risks and dependencies.
• Manage large projects and enhancements, including gathering requirements and updating partners to develop privacy risk mitigations.
• Work with legal and business units to produce data for legal holds, discovery, billing, and claims requests.
• Write and deploy SQL to archive or purge data and locate, review, and document data for privacy requirements.
• Develop processes to mitigate data risk including anonymization, pseudonymization, encryption, and purging.
• Guide vendors and contractors on database and privacy standards.
• Act as SME for internal teams on data governance and privacy strategy.
• Mentor junior team members; participate in peer/code reviews to ensure proper coding methods.
