Job summary

PDI Technologies is seeking a hands-on data engineering leader to own how data lands in our platform, including ingestion, the lakehouse, and the query layer. You will build a unified ingestion framework, manage Spark Structured Streaming pipelines, and govern Iceberg lakehouse design, with dbt standards and Trino catalog work.

This role combines architecture, coding, and people leadership, with a 24x7 on-call rotation and collaboration across product, analytics, and architecture teams to drive

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, engineering, or equivalent.
• 8+ years data engineering with 3+ years leadership and hands-on.
• Production experience with Spark Structured Streaming at scale.
• Deep Spark and PySpark performance work on real workloads.
• Experience with a reusable ingestion framework and multiple source types.
• Experience with Iceberg, dbt, and Trino/Presto.
• Experience running reliable, high-scale platform systems with on-call.

Responsibilities

• Lead, hire, and grow a team of 10+ data engineers — set the technical bar through design and code review.
• Own the architecture and delivery of a unified ingestion framework: batch, CDC, and streaming with schema evolution and data contracts.
• Own production Spark Structured Streaming pipelines with watermarking, stateful operations, and exactly-once sinks.
• Own the Apache Iceberg lakehouse: partitioning, compaction, evolution, and multi-engine interoperability.
• Set the dbt modeling standard including tests, CI, and lineage trust.
• Own Trino catalog design, workload isolation, and interactive query performance.
• Define and meet freshness, completeness, and latency SLOs; run 24x7 on-call with fast MTTR.
