Job summary

Medidata, operating a hybrid work model, seeks a Senior Data Engineer to own lakehouse components, build scalable data pipelines, and partner with Data Ops and Product teams. You will implement analytics pipelines using Spark, Trino, dbt, and Iceberg within a distributed, GitOps-driven environment.

You will mentor engineers, contribute to data governance, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver robust dashboards and self-service analytics.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data engineering experience in analytics or lakehouse environments.
• Proven ability to build and operate reliable data pipelines for analytics.
• Experience with distributed processing engines such as Spark and query engines like Trino.
• Production experience implementing dbt for modeling, testing and documentation.
• Hands-on work with Apache Iceberg and governance catalogs.
• Familiarity with ELT tools like Fivetran or Airbyte and cloud platforms.
• Fluent English and collaboration across distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of lakehouse components from design to deployment.
• Collaborate with Data Ops and Product teams to design data flows and dashboards.
• Mentor engineers and share knowledge within the analytics domain.
• Translate monitoring and analytics requirements into actionable projects.
• Participate in team rituals and drive continuous improvement of ingestion and exposure of data.
