Job summary

Remitly seeks a Senior Data Platform Engineer for the Trust Intelligence Platform to architect and scale distributed data systems using Kafka, Spark, and AWS. You will drive strategy for the risk data stack and collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, and risk leadership to enable rapid model deployment.

You will mentor mid-level and junior engineers, lead architectural reviews, and help foster technical excellence across the platform; hybrid work includes onsite Tue–Thu in Seattle with

Qualifications

6+ years of professional experience in software engineering and scalable data systems.
Architectural expertise in large-scale distributed systems and data warehousing concepts.
Hands-on with Python/Java/Scala/Go and modern big data tools.
Extensive AWS data services and streaming experience for real-time use cases.
FinTech, Fraud, or Risk domain experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Architect and scale distributed data pipelines and systems.
Drive technical strategy for the risk data stack and cost optimization on AWS.
Design complex data models and feature delivery for real-time and analytical needs.
Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and set engineering standards.
Collaborate with Data Scientists and ML engineers on feature stores and retraining loops.
