Job summary

Purple Wave is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer in the United States to design and operate end-to-end data pipelines, dbt workflows, and backend services that power analytics and product features. You will guide architecture, implement quality and observability, and mentor teammates while collaborating with product teams.

The role emphasizes building scalable data systems, exposing data via APIs, and applying ML/LLMs to production problems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 6+ years of software development experience.
• 5+ years backend software development experience.
• 2+ years of technical leadership or mentoring experience.
• Expert in Python; Go/TypeScript/JavaScript familiarity.
• Practical LLM/ML integration experience in production.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines (ETL/ELT) and dbt models.
• Develop and operate APIs and Python microservices; enable LLM/ML features.
• Lead data quality, observability, and schema/versioning practices.
• Collaborate with product teams; contribute to technical direction.
• Mentor teammates and drive Agile backend improvements.
