Job summary

Perry Weather in Dallas is hiring its first Data Engineer to design and build the data platform, unifying Azure SQL Server, TimescaleDB and business systems. You will create a lakehouse to serve executive analytics, internal AI workflows, and customer-facing data products.

You set architecture standards, own data reliability, and collaborate with Finance, Revenue, CX, Product and the executive team to deliver scalable data solutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data engineering or backend with data ownership.
• At least one cloud-native data platform built from scratch and operated in production.
• Enterprise-scale data lake/lakehouse/warehouse with owned schema and storage decisions.
• Expert SQL and dimensional modeling with clear metric definitions for executives.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: VCS, testing, CI/CD, IaC.
• Reliable ETL/ELT across diverse data sources and SaaS APIs.
• Track record supporting executive reporting with real impact.
• Hands-on depth in modern cloud data stack (Databricks/Synapse/Snowflake).
• Fluency with AI-native engineering tools and agentic workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own the data platform end to end (architecture, ingestion, modeling, orchestration, testing, cost, reliability).
• Unify Azure SQL Server, TimescaleDB, HubSpot, Zendesk, Acumatica into a single source of truth.
• Own data reliability with contracts, freshness, SLAs, lineage and observability.
• Build foundation for first data products: analytics, APIs, benchmarking, datasets.
• Lead AI data strategy and partner with leaders to automate repetitive work.
• Set standards for the next data engineers (modeling, reviews, documentation).
• Work directly with Finance, Revenue, CX, Product and the executive team.
