Job summary

Tessera Labs is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to build software that connects enterprise systems and makes data usable across applications, analytics, and AI. You will work at the intersection of backend engineering and data systems, developing reusable capabilities for data access, movement, and processing.

This role is open to remote candidates, with a preference for those based in the Bay Area. You’ll collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver production-ready data platforms

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a Data Platform Engineer.
• Strong Python and SQL in production software.
• Experience with backend services, data infrastructure, or data platform components.
• Solid understanding of relational databases, query optimization, and data formats.
• Experience with concurrent or distributed workloads, including failure handling and performance debugging.

Responsibilities

• Build core data platform capabilities and APIs for data access, query execution, ingestion, and synchronization.
• Make integrations reusable with connector frameworks and abstractions for different systems.
• Improve performance and resource efficiency through partitioning, parallelism, and memory/storage management.
• Own execution reliability with orchestration, retries, checkpointing, and observability.
• Take capabilities from design to production, defining interfaces and making architectural tradeoffs with product teams.
