Job summary

WorldQuant seeks a senior developer to design, build, and operate large-scale data and ETL systems powering its research and investment workflows. You will own critical systems end-to-end, make architectural decisions, and mentor others through code reviews and collaboration.

The role requires 8 years of software development, deep knowledge of Python/Java/Go/C, distributed systems, and strong data engineering skills. A highly autonomous, problem-solving mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• 8 years of professional software development experience.
• Mastery of at least one major programming language (Python, Java, Go, C).
• Experience architecting distributed, scalable, fault-tolerant systems.
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and handling large data.
• Strong SQL skills and relational database knowledge.
• Designing clean REST/gRPC APIs and data models.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and own backend services and data pipelines at scale.
• Architect data storage, processing, and data modeling solutions.
• Build and maintain APIs, messaging systems, and integrations.
• Drive architectural decisions and tool selections.
• Break down ambiguous requirements into deliverable solutions.
• Diagnose production issues with root-cause analysis.
• Improve practices: testing, CI/CD, observability, and docs.
