Job summary

Qualys, Inc. seeks a Senior Software Engineer for the Data Platform focused on ClickHouse. You will prototype, design, and build a scalable SaaS data platform and middleware handling trillions of rows per day, leveraging open source tech and cloud services.

You will work with a talented team to optimize ingestion, storage efficiency, and query performance while driving capacity planning and production reliability across cloud and on-prem environments.

Qualifications

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Applied Math or related field.
• Experience and expertise in ClickHouse.
• 5+ years hands-on experience with developing SaaS based software products for service-oriented deployments in public or private clouds.
• Proven expertise in data-driven problem solving.
• Ability to write high-quality production-ready code with well-designed APIs.
• Experience with agile software development methodologies.
• Experience with infrastructure orchestration tools like Terraform.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills.

Responsibilities

• Bring deep expertise in ClickHouse internals and architecture, engines, partitioning, and query execution.
• Design and review schemas for real-world read/write patterns; optimize ingestion and performance.
• Operate ClickHouse at scale on prem or cloud, including replication, sharding, and tuning.
• Drive capacity planning for CPU, memory, storage I/O and network resources.
• Develop services handling millions of transactions per second and scale data platforms as a service.
• Be a developer advocate and contribute to open-source as needed.
• Instrument day 1 and day 2 ops for data tech with large-scale throughput.
• Deliver resilient client SDKs to applications communicating with the data source.
