Job summary

Coinbase is hiring for a Data Engineering Platform Engineer on the Data Platform team. You will build SDKs, self-service apps, and abstractions that enable thousands of pipelines to run without users needing to understand the plumbing.

You will own platform APIs, SLOs, and observability, while collaborating with analysts, data scientists, and engineers to drive adoption across Coinbase. This role emphasizes cross-chain knowledge and scalable data infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 5 years of software engineering experience with production services ownership.
• Experience designing, scaling, and maintaining distributed systems with high throughput and low latency.
• Hands-on experience with at least two of: Golang, Kafka, Redis, MongoDB.
• Direct experience with blockchain protocols or crypto infrastructure (e.g., Ethereum, Bitcoin).
• Ability to decompose monoliths into well-bounded microservices with clear API contracts.
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and delivery of blockchain network infrastructure that abstracts blockchain complexity into platform APIs.
• Lead multi-quarter initiatives including new chain integrations, re-architecture efforts, and data migrations.
• Define and maintain APIs, SLOs, and observability for the systems you build, including on-call ownership.
• Partner with product and platform teams to establish data contracts and ship SDKs and platform primitives.
• Build deep technical context across multiple top blockchain protocols and apply it to cross-chain operations.
