Job summary

FanDuel is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to design scalable data systems and lead critical data infrastructure. This senior IC role focuses on architecture standards, reliable pipelines, and solving complex technical challenges powering analytics and data science.

You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to build performant, cloud-native solutions with a long-term, customer-centric mindset. This role emphasizes engineering excellence and platform evolution.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of data engineering experience building scalable data systems and platforms.
• Deep expertise with Spark, Airflow, Kafka, Databricks, and cloud-native services.
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Scala, or Java).
• Experience owning complex end-to-end data infrastructure from design to production.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable batch and streaming data pipelines and architectures.
• Define data modeling standards and pipeline orchestration using modern tools.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver end-to-end data solutions.
• Drive engineering best practices around code quality, testing, and deployment.
• Evolve the data platform to be modular, interoperable, and resilient.
• Lead technical design reviews and mentor peers to raise engineering standards.
• Partner with analytics and data science to deliver reusable data assets and infrastructure.
