The Data Solutions team at AAIS is seeking a seasoned and versatile data professional who excels at tackling complex challenges, embraces a multifaceted role, and consistently takes initiative. This is not a task-driven, reactive position. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who naturally identifies gaps, asks thoughtful questions, and delivers strategic, high-impact solutions.
Purpose
As the Senior Data Platform Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and sustaining AAIS’s modern data ecosystem. From designing and managing robust database environments to optimizing our cloud infrastructure, architecting scalable data solutions, and developing efficient pipelines, you will be central to enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain secure, high-performance database environments (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Cloudera, Snowflake), ensure integrity, recoverability, and availability.
- Administer and tune data solutions within AWS cloud, including storage services such as S3, and Snowflake.
- Implement and manage role-based access controls (RBAC) and data security policies across data platforms to ensure appropriate access, compliance, and governance.
- Architect modern data platforms that are scalable, resilient, and aligned with enterprise data needs and governance standards.
- Develop and manage robust ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like AWS Glue, Apache Spark, Python, and Informatica to support reliable and consistent data delivery.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to understand data requirements, ensure data quality, establish and enforce role-based access, and drive architecture decisions that align with business strategy.
- Automate workflows and deployment processes through infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and monitor frameworks to ensure performance and scalability.
- Continuously evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and practices that improve the agility, security, and value of our data landscape.
- Work confidently in Linux-based environments, including using shell scripting and command-line tools to support automation, troubleshooting, and data operations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or database administration.
- Proven track record with both on-premises and cloud-based data platforms
- Proficient in SQL and Python.
- Comfortable working with modern cloud data tools.
- Hands-on experience in Linux-based environments, including scripting and system-level operations.
- Strong understanding of Data modeling, Metadata management, and System integration.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and data quality best practices.
- Experience with the following is a plus: CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, Apache Spark, Data catalog tools.
- AWS Certified Data Engineer, Solutions Architect, and/or DevOps Engineer credentials preferred.
- Minimum travel is required for annual all-company gathering or team design sessions (less than 5% of the time).
