Company/Role Overview:

This midsize nonprofit organization is seeking to hire a Data Platform Engineer to join the Investment Operations team.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage scalable data platforms, including data lakes and data warehouses, using cloud infrastructure and big data tools.
• Collaborate with the investment operations team to develop data models that facilitate risk reporting, investment monitoring, and calculating ROI.
• Build robust data pipelines and ensure the reliability and scalability of the overall data architecture.
• Integrate Databricks into the data ecosystem to enable more efficient data processing and analytics.
• Work with AWS (or other cloud platforms) to ensure optimal performance, security, and cost-efficiency of cloud-based systems.
• Utilize orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster to automate and manage data workflows.
• Work with Bipsync to streamline investment portfolio management.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, ensuring smooth deployment processes.
• Leverage your knowledge of financial mathematics and economics to support investment operations, specifically in areas like ROI calculations and risk reporting.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, data scientists, and business teams to refine data models and improve data systems.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or related roles.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and system design.
• Experience in system design with a focus on building data lakes or data warehouses from scratch.
• Cloud experience, preferably with AWS.
• Strong experience in handling financial or investment portfolio data, with a solid understanding of financial math, ROI calculations, and risk reporting.
• Familiarity with Bipsync or TotalPlan solutions is a plus.
• Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow or Dagster.
• Knowledge of GitHub Actions and general CI/CD practices.
• Strong ability to construct data models and work within relational and non-relational databases.
• Deep understanding of financial mathematics and economics, particularly in investment monitoring and risk assessment.
