Job summary

AbbVie seeks a Principal Data Architect in Worcester, MA to shape a cloud‑native data foundation enabling AI/ML in discovery research. You will own architecture, adoption, and continuous improvement of a scalable platform connecting lab data across assays and supporting ML development and deployment.

The role partners with wet lab scientists, ML engineers, software engineers, and data governance teams, reporting to the Head of AI/ML in BGM. Hybrid, on‑site 3 days/week.

Qualifications

• MS with 14+ years’ or PhD with 8+ years’ in ML/CS/related field.
• 6+ years of data architecture experience and enterprise platforms.
• Experience building cloud data infrastructure on AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Production programming in SQL, Python, or Java.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture for a scalable, cloud‑native data platform.
• Design data models and integration patterns across lab datasets.
• Partner with scientists and engineers to maximize data value.
• Ensure pipelines support model development and production deployment.
• Advance FAIR data practices and data stewardship.
