Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC seeks a Software Development Engineer II to help build the data backbone for AWS Compute Optimizer. You will ingest, process, and label telemetry from EC2, storage, and networking services to enable cost-saving recommendations at scale.

You'll own end-to-end pipelines, work with data scientists, ensure data quality and security, and ship reliable, low-latency services across multiple regions. This role emphasizes ownership and impact.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design/architecture experience for new or existing systems.
• 2+ years as a software engineer or related role.
• 1+ years designing large-scale distributed software using at least one language (C#, C++, Java, or Perl).
• 1+ years of object-oriented design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in CS, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Understand AWS services we optimize and design a high-throughput ingestion layer for metrics.
• Build and scale data pipelines that collect, clean, and label large metric volumes with low latency.
• Own end-to-end systems across regions, including GovCloud and isolated partitions.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to deliver clean, structured data for modeling.
• Address data security, scalability, and cost efficiency with serverless and decoupled architectures.
• Meet ingestion/publishing SLAs and implement data backfill and correction paths.
