Data Literacy Lead-Data Solutions (San Antonio, Austin and Dallas)

We are seeking a Data Literacy Lead to promote H-E-B’s data-driven culture through designing and delivering engaging learning programs that make data accessible and actionable. This role involves simplifying complex data concepts, promoting data policy adoption, and embedding best practices into daily decision-making processes. Collaboration across teams—such as governance, engineering, and analytics—is essential to ensure a shared understanding of data terminology and tools. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, communication, and enablement skills, thriving as both an educator and practitioner. You will empower users to confidently navigate data platforms like Data Catalog, Warehouse, and Lake, fostering a culture of curiosity, accountability, and data fluency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data literacy and communication strategy aligned with Data Governance and GenAI platform priorities.
  • Develop and deliver training, workshops, videos, documentation, and resources that enable users to understand, interpret, and use data effectively in their roles.
  • Create training and educational tools that promote awareness of data policies around sensitive data, standards on metadata, data lineage, data quality, and data cataloging.
  • Create and curate a knowledge base, including definitions, FAQs, and guides to promote self-service analytics and data understanding.
  • Advocate for data literacy best practices and foster a data-driven culture.
  • Facilitate data literacy communities and peer learning networks.
  • Define and evaluate data literacy competencies and create learning pathways for different personas and skill levels.
  • Identify and implement best practices/KPIs to measure and track improvements in data literacy across the organization.
  • Translate technical and analytical concepts into clear, accessible language for non-technical audiences.
  • Maintain a general understanding of data across domains to enable business, analytical, and data science use cases.

Background Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data literacy, data management, data governance, business intelligence, or related fields.
  • SQL skills preferred.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with experience designing and delivering learning programs.
  • Passion for education, enabling others, and engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of data governance principles, practices, and data security/compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience with big data and business intelligence tools.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented with accurate documentation skills.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of leading results independently through collaboration.

Work Environment

  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, with options to work from home or office.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and sit for long periods.
