Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC in Bellevue, WA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and implement the next generation of our hybrid ingestion systems, with focus on performance, schema evolution, and validation across Kafka, Flink, and S3.

You will mentor engineers, scale the Rocket CDC platform, migrate legacy pipelines, and contribute to data-quality controls in a fast-moving, high-impact team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building backend platforms or distributed data systems.
• Proficient in Java, Scala, or Python with high-quality, maintainable code.
• Deep experience with relational databases (Postgres) and CDC mechanisms.
• Extensive background building/operating streaming systems using Kafka, Flink, or Spark.
• Familiar with cloud (AWS S3), Kubernetes, and schema governance.

Responsibilities

• Design and scale CDC, snapshot, and streaming ingestion systems moving data into the data lake.
• Improve pipeline reliability, scalability, data quality, and monitoring to reduce lag.
• Develop self-service onboarding flows for databases and schemas.
• Collaborate with platform teams and data consumers to select ingestion patterns.
• Implement access controls, PII handling, and retention pipelines to protect data.
