Job summary

Estuary is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Capture or Materialization teams. You will build high-performance connectors that extract data from diverse sources and load it into downstream destinations in real time.

You will master SaaS APIs and database protocols, design robust pipelines in a polyglot environment, and ensure reliability with strong state management and backpressure. This role blends low-level systems work with product intuition.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Proficient in Go; comfortable with Python and Rust.
• Strong systems thinking and API behavior understanding.
• Knowledge of data movement, checkpointing, and consistency models.

Responsibilities

• Research SaaS APIs and database protocols to determine robust interaction methods.
• Build and maintain polyglot connectors (Go primary, Python/Rust contributions).
• Architect reliable systems with exactly-once delivery and backpressure management.
• Bridge external API realities with high-performance Estuary core engine constraints.
• Participate in design docs and code reviews to uphold performance and correctness.
