Job summary

VT Group (VTG) is seeking a Software Engineer / Data Engineer to design, build, and operate large-scale Big Data systems. The role focuses on Java development, API design, and cloud-native AWS architectures to support complex data processing and geospatial indexing in secure environments.

The candidate will work with graph databases, NoSQL/SQL stores, and serverless pipelines, while complying with federal security requirements and LDAP-based access controls.

Qualifications

• Requires Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in relevant field.
• Demonstrated experience with Java development.
• Experience designing and operating Big Data systems.
• Experience developing and maintaining APIs.
• Experience cloud-native architectures on AWS or similar.
• Experience building/optimizing large-scale graph databases (Cassandra, DynamoDB, Neo4j, JanusGraph).
• Experience graph traversal with Apache TinkerPop/Gremlin.
• Experience NoSQL solutions.
• Experience data modeling, partition sharding, stream processing, metrics gathering.
• Experience developing high-performance data processing pipelines.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, container orchestration.
• Experience with Apache NiFi.
• Experience DevSecOps and agile methodologies.
• Experience with data security controls including LDAP.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate large-scale Big Data systems.
• Develop and maintain Java-based applications and APIs.
• Architect cloud-native solutions using AWS or similar platforms.
• Design and optimize graph databases with billions of edges.
• Develop graph traversal with TinkerPop/Gremlin/JanusGraph.
• Build and maintain NoSQL and relational DB solutions.
• Design partition and sort key strategies for performance.
• Develop aggregation operations to deduplicate records.
• Build serverless data pipelines using AWS Lambda/Step Functions/PySpark.
• Design geospatial indexing using GeoMESA.
• Maintain Kubernetes-based containerized environments.
• Implement DevSecOps and agile practices in production.
• Maintain configuration with Git repositories.
• Lead cross-functional architectural discussions.
• Ensure compliance with federal security, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
• Implement data security controls including encryption and LDAP.
