Job summary

VTG in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Software Engineer / Data Engineer to design, build, and operate large-scale Big Data systems. You will develop Java-based applications and APIs, architect cloud-native solutions on AWS, and work with graph databases at scale.

You will collaborate across teams to implement secure data processing pipelines, containerized in Kubernetes, while adhering to DevSecOps practices and federal security requirements.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Geospatial Intelligence, Geography, Remote Sensing, or related field.
• Demonstrated experience with Java development.
• Experience designing and operating Big Data systems.
• Experience developing and maintaining APIs.
• Experience cloud-native architectures on AWS or similar.
• Experience with graph databases (JanusGraph, Cassandra, DynamoDB, Neo4j).
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration.
• Experience with data security controls including LDAP, encryption, auditing.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable Big Data systems.
• Develop and maintain Java-based applications and APIs.
• Architect cloud-native solutions on AWS.
• Design and optimize large-scale graph databases.
• Develop graph traversal capabilities using TinkerPop/Gremlin.
• Build and operate serverless data pipelines (Lambda, Step Functions, PySpark).
• Maintain Kubernetes-based containerized environments.
• Ensure compliance with federal security and accreditation requirements.
