Job summary

phData is seeking a senior data governance professional to lead governance programs, metadata management, and data quality controls across client engagements in the United States. You will design policies, drive adoption, and partner with data engineers, analysts, and business owners.

This hands-on role translates complex governance concepts into practical guidance, coaches client staff, and facilitates working groups to align business and technical teams while ensuring privacy and regulatory

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data governance, metadata management, and MDM roles.
• Hands-on experience with MDM tools and data quality tooling.
• Strong communication and workshop facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design tailored data governance programs, with processes, teams, and decision rights.
• Create policies and controls for governance execution.
• Lead data governance design and rollout strategies.
• Explain governance concepts in business language; prepare materials and adoption guides.
• Facilitate governance working groups to align business and tech stakeholders.
• Execute metadata management activities: cataloging, lineage, stewardship workflows.
• Collaborate with business teams to draft business rules and data quality controls.
• Apply data quality processes: profiling, monitoring, issue management.
• Support installation and adoption of governance/metadata tools (Collibra, Alation, Atlan, Purview).
• Coach client staff on data stewardship practices and ownership.
