Job summary

Technomics, Inc. is seeking an experienced Data Governance Lead for a federal client in Arlington, VA. You will design a modern governance program, build standards, and drive adoption across business and technical teams, ensuring data is a trusted enterprise asset.

You will facilitate governance councils, translate stakeholder perspectives into decisions, and mature governance capabilities. A strong candidate has 8+ years in data governance, a relevant degree, and security-clearance readiness.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience delivering data-governance programs and governing councils.
Knowledge of federal data laws (Evidence Act, Federal Data Strategy) and data-catalog concepts.
Excellent written and oral communication with senior leaders and technical teams.

Responsibilities

Design and mature a data-governance operating model (objectives, decision rights, accountability).
Conduct current-state assessments; identify gaps and opportunities.
Convene governance councils and stewardship forums; charter creation and cadence.
Develop, adopt, and improve data-management policies and procedures.
Measure adoption and report metrics; advise on corrective actions.
Align frameworks with client needs (Evidence Act, FDS, FAIR, DCAM).
Define metadata, lineage, and data catalog requirements; evaluate tools like Collibra, Purview, Alation, Informatica.
Produce inventories, dictionaries, and stewardship records as interim assets.
Lead cross-functional workshops to align governance objectives with mission outcomes.
Build consensus among stakeholders with differing priorities.
Establish RACI matrices and governance roles; create workflows.
Coach data owners and stewards to embed governance into projects.
