Job summary

Medtronic in Mounds View, MN is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Data Services and Data Engineering teams within CRM PCS, accountable for quarterly objectives, staffing, and budget, delivering measurable customer value.

You will partner with PMs, Architects, and leaders to set multi-year roadmaps, advance CI/CD, cloud data ecosystems, and ensure regulatory and cybersecurity compliance while fostering learning and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or math with minimum technical experience (7 years) or advanced degree with 5 years technical and 5 years managerial experience.
• Experience leading Data Services and Data Engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of cloud data ecosystems (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with distributed data processing, ETL/ELT, streaming platforms, data lakes/lakehouses, APIs, and microservices.
• Familiarity with Spark, Kafka, Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, Delta Lake, Airflow, dbt, or similar platforms.
• Ability to manage geographically distributed SW development teams.
• Experience in Med-Tech is a plus.
• Business acumen focused on patient-first outcomes and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-year plans to build and develop high-performing data engineering teams.
• Ensure programs are resourced and continuously improve technical capability, process, and compliance.
• Establish engineering best practices for quality, observability, security, automation, and operational excellence.
• Partner with PMs, Program Managers, Architects, and business leaders to prioritize investments and deliver measurable customer value.
• Champion modern software practices including CI/CD, IaC, DevSecOps, automated testing, and data quality engineering.
• Improve platform reliability, performance, scalability, and cost optimization.
• Foster a culture of learning, innovation, accountability, and collaboration.
• Directly manage 3–6 scrum teams with coaching and feedback.
• Ensure compliance with software, cybersecurity, and regulatory standards.
