Job summary

Veracyte seeks a Senior Manager, Data Engineering to lead an engineering team building and operating enterprise data platforms. You will balance architecture with hands-on input, guiding data lake/lakehouse evolution and partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable data solutions.

You will manage talent, drive platform standards, and ensure regulatory compliance while advancing CI/CD and data quality practices. Hybrid or US-remote options available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of data engineering/software experience with data platforms.
• 5+ years in people-management, leading teams and setting objectives.
• Experience designing and operating data pipelines and lakehouse architectures.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services (S3, Glue, Athena, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch).
• Proficient in SQL and Python; ability to review designs and guide implementation.
• Experience with data quality, observability, security, privacy, and regulatory controls.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a data engineering team including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• Guide architecture, code reviews, and key technical decisions for data platforms.
• Translate business and scientific needs into platform capabilities and plans.
• Establish data platform standards, governance, and operational processes.
• Ensure data platform security, regulatory compliance, and quality management.
• Drive CI/CD, testing, observability, lineage, and documentation improvements.
• Collaborate across Analytics, Data Science, Product, Clinical, Security, and IT.
