Job summary

Strategic Innovation Group (SIG) seeks a Senior Data Engineer to lead the data core of a new analytics platform for a federal government client. You will own the physical data model, ingestion architecture, and reusable connectors in an on-premises FedRAMP Moderate environment, guiding the data team and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver a Minimum Viable Product.

The role requires 8+ years in data engineering, strong SQL/PostgreSQL skills, and experience with Docker/Kubernetes in a

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data engineering including 3+ years as lead on a production data platform.
• Expert SQL and PostgreSQL data modeling with performance tuning.
• Strong Python for pipeline development with Airflow, Dagster or Prefect.
• Experience designing reusable ingestion from heterogeneous sources with schema validation.
• Experience deploying pipelines in Docker/Kubernetes with CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement the centralized data layer in PostgreSQL with a governed schema.
• Architect scalable ingestion pipelines using Python and orchestration tools.
• Build reusable connectors (REST, flat files, SFTP) with CI/CD deployment.
• Apply PII anonymization and access controls per NIST SP 800-53 Moderate.
• Define analytic rules and document data criteria behind each rule.
• Lead data quality defect detection and remediation throughout lifecycle.
• Capture metadata, data lineage, and data-currency indicators for UI.
• Set coding, review, testing, and documentation standards for the data team.
